There's a funky little zoo near us called the Cougar Mountain Zoo.
It has animals native to our area, like the cougar, but then it has an odd assortment of other creatures from Lemurs to Reindeer to Parrots. None of your standard zoo animals, though. No Tigers or Elephants or Hippos or Bears, except this bronze one pictured above!
It's not the best place to see animals, but they have a magnificent collection of bronze sculptures and an area of life size animal tracks engraved in stone tiles.
Here are some shots I took at the zoo yesterday:
A cougar. Look at those gigantic paws!
A lovely parrot that is showing it's plumage, so proud even though his flight feathers have been clipped off. He kept posing and showing off, and when I moved on to the next bird he squawked, "Come here!" He wanted all the attention.
I'm pretty, too!
But I'm the most beautiful! (Balearica regulorum -- African Grey Crowned Crane)
